Brighton Art Fair

Yes it’s come round again! This year i shall be part of ‘Lovers Press‘ Stand. I maybe floating around at some point over the duration so come along and say hi. Here is a little glimpse of a new screenprint i’ve been working on as part of a series of ‘Landmark’ prints. Art fair runs from Fri 23rd to Sun 25th Sept

'Heyday (Landmark I)'

Ink-d ‘Made in Brighton 2′ Show

I was a late arrival to this show – my arm was twisted so much i haven’t been able to draw for a while. I did manage to get this print created before the swelling occurred though. Get down to Ink-d Gallery for a wee peaky. On until 28th August.

Silkscreen Print with Hand-Finished Details. 28cm x 28cm. Edition of 15

The Yeti return…….

…..but they’re about to go into hibernation. Yetis are notoriously difficult to spot in the wild and that’s largely due to the fact that they spend an exuberant amount of time in hibernation. A lot of preparation time is needed because of this as you can see from the latest snapshot of their lives. Another near miss for the determined hunter and his boy…? (available at Boxbird)

Available in 2 sizes (55cm x 41cm ed.80 & 74 x 54.5cm ed.20) from www.boxbird.co.uk

May Open House

It’s that time again! The Fringe Festival kicked off last weekend, and as Boxbird is taking a little break this year i was chuffed to be accepted into the Unlimited Editions open studio. An amazing array of knick-knackery and stunning prints that are very easy on the eye – i recommend popping in (if only for a lick of the face by Honey the Sausage Dog). Open all weekends in May.

Affordable Art Fair

Oh Lordy it’s been an incredibly exhausting couple of months….! Thankfully stock levels are back up and i can actually hang something on the wall at the affordable art fair this week. Here is a sneak peak of new work , including some foil stamped experiments. Come along and see us at Battersea (10th – 13th Mar). Will put some better pics up soon.

Some small recent limited edition prints available through Boxbird, along with a set of laser-etched characters i’m rather fond of (Which character would you be in the ‘Bough Brood’?)

Helping you see in the dark.....

New Scientist Front Cover

During my college years the New Scientist cover was the holy grail of illustration commissions – so it’s great to finally land it! The client opted for a white background but i’ve also included how i wanted it to look (compare, contrast and discuss).

Solo Show @ Rostra Gallery, Bath

My new show ‘Air Tales’ is now open to the public until the 27th Sept. There are some brand new prints based around the theme of flight, as well as some new original drawings. It’s also a good excuse to visit the lovely town of Bath……

Shaun of the Dead

I’ve been away for a little while! I put this down to a particularly horrific Zombie attack i suffered at the end of june (that, and getting married). I have however produced this piece of work for the ‘Crazy4Cult’ Exhibition in Los Angeles based on the Rom-Zom-Com movie Shaun of the Dead, featuring a little bit of foil-blocking detail in the blood splatter! Giclee Edition of 10.

A huge charity auction is taking place this weekend. I have donated 4 Giclee prints, including the last available complete set of my Giant Series and the original sketches that inspired them…..more info here. You might be able to grab yourself a bargain!

‘A-B’ at Boxbird Gallery is here!

Come and see our new show at Boxbird from now until 27th May (Closed Mondays), 11-5pm! It be chock full of lovely handprinted goodness from over 30 artists. Not to mention some pretty special one-offs.I have 3 new screenprints available, as well as a pack of 9 mini-prints. ‘Lavaland’ is hot off the press, having finished it 5 hours before the opening of the show! (great time management there Gray!) Here is a wee taster….

Lavaland

A story of a travelling Island. This island is used primarily by tourists but is available for private hire (jolly expensive though). When submerged , the whale-like design of the underbelly pacifies the marine life.

New Prints @ the Affordable Art Fair

I have a few new hybrid prints available at the forthcoming Affordable Art Fair at Battersea, London (We’ll be there as Boxbird Gallery from March 11th – 14th. Come say hello).

Wandering Marionnette is based on an amazing puppetry effort by the Royal De Luxe theatre company which blew me away. Early Bird is a secret diner located high in the tree-tops. It’s location is known only to the mini-pilots of the mechanical birds and it’s muffins are to die for.

I Love You….!

…honestly i do. It’s the last week of the valentine themed ‘I Love You’ Exhibition at the Hop Gallery, Lewes. All proceeds go to a worthy cause (Children’s Heart Charities) and the artist line up is impressive to boot, including the likes of Sanna Annukka, Jonny Hannah and Rob Ryan! (i’ll be making an appearance too).

On until Feb 14th.

‘Made-in-Brighton’ @ Ink-d Gallery

I am currently taking part in a group show entitled ‘Made in Brighton‘ along with a bunch of illustrious local artists who have also had solo shows at Ink-d Gallery in the last few years…..

One image per artist – no bigger than 30cm x 30cm, an edition of 25 and all £75.

My piece , Bobby Play (silkscreen on japanese plywood) is based on 2 little gay (or just good friends) policemen characters. I had planned to use these little guys years ago but then that pesky Banksy character came up with a similar idea…..

‘East Meets West’ has opened…..

A big thank you to everyone who came to the private view.

The show is open until 12th Sept if you wanna come along and say hi.

Decked Project

I will be taking part in the Decked Project from 25th – 30th August at the Stolen Space Gallery, Brick Lane, London.

A collection of 50 street artists/illustrators/designers/tattooists each designing their own skate deck, and here is my end result………As you can see, my cat found it quite hypnotic watching me work on it! Even tried to grab the brushes a few times – another budding artist in the family?? (No. Because it’s a cat – they can’t draw)

Zilla Inc. coming to a town near you…….

They may be tokyo based, but the Zilla Inc. like to wander  - and cause chaos in their wake. If you see a glowing beacon looming over the horizon it’s probably best to get yourself in to some kind of underground bunker. The only respite is when they pause briefly for the nightshift workers to take over…….    (See the full image at EAST MEETS WEST, solo  exhibition at coningsby gallery London from Sept 1st to 12th)

The myths about giant creatures, disguised as man-made or natural objects, roaming the lands – have turned out to be true!

Boots screwed up my camera film with the evidence – but luckily i have been able to create an ‘artist’s impression’…….

These prints will soon be available at Art Republic, Brighton.
